Orlaith Carmody

 

Orlaith Carmody is a journalist, producer and media consultant. She graduated in Journalism at the DIT in the eighties, and began her career feature writing for the Irish Press and writing on Fashion and Health for Woman's Way and U Magazines. She then switched to broadcast news reporting/producing, first with LMFM and then with Century Radio before moving to RTÉ, where she worked as a senior staff journalist throughout the ninties. In addition to general television and radio news reporting, she produced, directed and presented reports for The Week in Politics, presented Oireachtas Report and edited television news bulletins.

A Director of Mediatraining.ie since 1992, she has run media training and management programmes for some of the top names in Irish business.

In 2008 she set up Aerga Productions which has been involved in programming for RTÉ, TV3 and TG4, and in 2010, Orlaith was a Screen Training Ireland Bursary award winner and participant on the Entertainment Master Class, the international development programme for television producers.

She was appointed to the Board of RTÉ by the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Communications in December 2009, following public competition, to serve a five year term.

Orlaith holds an MA in Film and Television from DCU.
