How To Work A Room
It is stating the obvious, but these are challenging times for the PR industry. Private sector budgets have been severely reduced, and the public sector has slashed its spend too.
What’s a retainer? Most new clients now just engage with a one off project.
But the clouds of economic gloom have had a silver lining for us at Mediatraining.ie. We are still very busy simply because, with such a dramatic downturn, corporate spokespersons now have to explain themselves more often to the consumer, to the public or to the media and that’s good for our business.
We get amazing support from right across the PR Sector. So, to give something back, we are putting on How to Work a Room on Thursday, July 14th at 4pm in the Shelbourne Hotel on Stephen’s Green.
What’s it about? Well, the days when business walked in the door are sadly over. We have to get back to basics, and motivate staff to get out and drum up business.
Networking and lead generation do not come easy to everyone, despite the fact that as people in the communications industry, there is pressure on us to do it really well. Most people think we were born networking! But just think, those who came into the industry in the past fifteen years may never have had to go out and ‘shake the trees’ for new business.
I have found recently that many of us are not as confident walking into a room full of strangers as we would like to be. And let’s be honest, we envy anyone who can do it with style and ease.
